There were many moments on this night. I could have lived in any one of them forever. I wasn't out taking pictures that evening—I was simply driving home. But when this happened, I had to stop. I first pulled over about seven miles from home, fearing the moment would be brief. This photograph was taken much closer to home, and it felt exactly as it looks, as if we had stepped into another world. Even though this image says more than I ever could, it represents only about one percent of the entire experience. Life is less about what it looks like and more about what it feels like. It was calm, peaceful, ethereal, majestic, healing, and wondrous. It was one of those rare moments you wish could last forever. I'm grateful I was able to capture a small part of this unbelievable experience so I could share it with the world.
